Mayra and Theresa have been friends since they were languishing at McAllen Memorial High School. They knew that they were kindred spirits when they would compete to see who could come up with the longest and most complex words. Mayra knew she had a true friend when Theresa did not get angry at her when she cut a frog in half during the dissection unit in biology. Theresa left for Princeton where she majored in English, but they have always stayed in touch. Mayra returned from Tajikistan to be a bridesmaid for Theresa in 2003 when Theresa married Leo Le Page. Theresa is an oncology salesperson for Pfizer. Leo and she are living in Austin, Texas.
